More Dwarf Marine progress

 With 9th edition being released i guessed it was about time i created a new list for the Dwarf Marines army. It was originally only meant to be a small force, but i seem to always be adding to the "i want to make" pile. I've decided that for now i'm going to try and focus on just putting together a force at around 1,600 pts. With that in mind i went into Battlescribe and created the list including the current miniatures i have ready to paint.

If you've seen the previous post then you'll have already seen some of the units on the list. There are a few things to finish off and start. The scout squad, Judiciar and one of the Razorbacks are getting there leaving the second Razorback, Assault squad and Outrider squad left to put together. I already have a plan for the Outriders which i'm looking forward to getting on with soon. The assault squad has been all sourced except for the torsos, but i know i have the desired ones around here somewhere. The squad will have a flamethrower in it and i've got a nice idea for that so look forward to a post about that at some point.

For the Razorbacks i'm using Rogue Trader Rhinos with an old "upgrade kit" that i used to sell. I like the style and thought it would fit with the project really well.

I still need to decide what i'm doing regarding the Razorback turret, but i may end up designing something myself in 3D and then printing it out to fit the vehicle. It'll be a bit more work, but enjoyable too.

I already have the parts for the next Razorback ready to go. I just need to cast up the parts for the upgrade kit. I have some other "spare bits" that i may use for a third transport or even a predator at some point in the future. There's even an Impulsor that i was making before that was based on a Rogue Trader era Rhino. It's currently on hold though (along with a scratch built Repulsor) so i can get through this list first.

The start of the Judiciar.

I've been looking at others conversions of the Judiciar online and although i thought about making a shorter version of the executioner relic blade an axe is more Dwarf-like so i may make a bespoke axe for over the shoulder. There's still a lot to do. I thought that one of my casts of the "counts as phobos armour" sculpt i had made would make a great base to create the model from. There's going to be a lot of green-stuff sculpting to make it more Judiciar-like but i think it'll turn out ok.

As you can see in the picture above the scouts are made from a resin cast model (from the Breaching the Rift range on my Gydran website) and a mix of GW plastic parts. They all have plastic scout sniper rifles which fits in really well with the base model. There is still a bit of green-stuff sculpting and filling to do on the models, but  it's not any major work.

There's enough to keep me busy for the time being and once this list is done and everything is undercoated i'll get on with the first lot of painting before i make any more Dwarf Marines. I have a tendency to get distracted with ideas and deviate from my hobby plans, but this time i'm going to try and stick to it. There's enough in this list to do and adding more could easily overwhelm the project.
